SunTouch Mats: Facts
SunTouch mats are perfectly suited to be installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and even doorways. The advantage of these floor mats is that they are designed to warm any kind of flooring, be it stone, tile or wood. SunTouch floor mats are made of heavy-duty rubber and are completely waterproof.
SunTouch floor mats have been pre-tested and set to the appropriate temperature in order to produce uniform radiant heat. They are designed in a way that heat tends to travel upwards, circulating around the feet and legs. A very convenient floor heating solution, these mats are thermostatically controlled, so that heat is maintained at a constant temperature. They are also equipped with a heat control switch, which can be modulated to choose the desired temperature.
SunTouch Mats: Mat Kits
SunTouch mats are available in convenient kits, proving an easy choice of buying a heating floor in a single box. The kit contains one or two mats, each two feet wide and varying in length. Along with this, the kit contains everything one would need to install one’s own warm flooring system. Every kit contains:
- A SunStat programmable thermostat
- An installation monitor, which visually and audibly verifies whether the wires are intact
- Double-sided, super-sticky tape to fix the mat to the floor
- Installation manual and DVD
SunTouch mats can be installed in three easy steps:
Prepare the Floor – Dry fit the mat on the floor to ensure that it fits properly. Use a multimeter to test the floor mat’s ohm resistance to make sure that the wire is undamaged.
Apply a layer of thinset – Apply the thinset onto the subfloor in notches. This would hold the floor heat mat in place.
Lay down the mat and tile – When finally laying down the radiant heat mat, start from the farthest end of the room and move back. Apply a second thinset layer on the mat and lay the tile like you would on a subfloor.
